Because of their organic nature, pearls are softer and more delicate than other gemstones and need special attention to ensure they will stay beautiful and last a lifetime. Like us, they will glow more brightly when they are nurtured, cared for and loved.
Pearls are the oldest known gem and symbolize the best within us~ wisdom, truth, purity and faith. The only jewel made by a living creature, the pearl grows slowly from the depths of an oyster to become a simple and beautiful gift from the sea. Like the pearl, you are a precious jewel made by a living God~ a being of natural beauty and inner goodness that emits a divine, radiant light. Let our jewelry be a gentle reminder that you, like the pearl you wear, are a one-of-a-kind unique treasure. ~Vous êtes un trésor~
The basic rule for wearing pearls: they are the last thing to put on when getting dressed and the first thing to remove when undressing.
What is the best way to store my pearls?
It's best to wear your Seamist Studio Treasured Pearls and Leather Jewelry regularly in order to maintain the moisture and oils needed; however, when not wearing your pearl jewelry, place each piece in a separate, loosely closed, soft cloth that allows exposure to air and humidity. Pearls contain trace amounts of water, so storing them in an airtight environment can cause them to lose their luster and become dull.
How do I restore & maintain my jewelry?
You may wear your Seamist Studio Treasured Pearls and Leather Jewelry at all times- even in water! Our handcrafted leather is extremely durable; however, without proper conditioning, it can become dry and brittle- which will cause weakness. It is essential to moisturize your Seamist Studio Handcrafted Leather frequently with only pure oils. We use, and highly recommend pure, organic Shea Butter.
What is the best way to clean my jewelry?
Should you need to clean your Seamist Studio Treasured Pearls and Leather Jewelry, wash each piece in very salty water, rinse in freshwater, then leave on a towel to dry. Treat your piece heavily with Shea Butter before wearing it again! Your Nautical Code Latitude Longitude numbers and letters may initially begin to fade; however, they will patina and darken again with wear. To polish the 'Coordinates of Your Heart' piece, we recommend using old fashioned baking soda or a silver polishing cloth.
What about normal wear & tear repairs?
Conditioning your Seamist Studio Handcrafted Leather is essential to its longevity; however, being an organic, natural product, normal wear and tear are to be expected. We will repair any piece of jewelry for a small service charge. Please contact us through the website for this service, and note that we ONLY repair our jewelry.
